REVIEW ~ NIKI PRESTON ~ 5 STARS

Well Phew what an absolute thrilling read Blood Pact is! I feel battered and bruised, like most of the characters in this book. A brutal story of survival of the fittest. There’s back stabbing aplenty with enemies around every corner. I LOVED IT!

As book 4 in the series I wasn’t sure if Heather could pull it off again but wow she pulled it off and then some. I was enthralled by Book 3 but Book 4 just blew my mind. The intensity shines out from every word and you can’t tear yourself away. The characters have grown superbly well throughout this series and Jamie has come into his own as a strong leader of the Blood Brothers. A loyal team, keeping Gallowburn a safer place to live. My favourite character though quickly became Logan, A quiet yet intelligent Blood Brother who is perhaps being lined up to take over from Jamie in the future. He is a sensitive soul who thinks before he leaps and I just really became drawn to him. The other two Blood Brothers add a brilliant level of humour and had me chuckling away with their banter and ribbing each other. I enjoyed the light and dark dark shade running through the plot and boy does it keep you on it’s toes.

The dazzling end genuinely caught me off guard and unquestionably was the best ending. Fast paced drama through out but it really picks up the pace, if that’s possible, towards the end. Jamie is totally up against it, with enemies trying to finish him off, even from inside prison. Does he really stand a chance?

Blood Brothers is a vivid and violent story of Scottish Gangland, the lives of the people involved are all damaged in one way or another and their strong will and danger radiates from each and every page. Be prepared for the read of your life, its an absolute cracking thriller and now I need a cuppa and some deep breathing.

Book Review “Dissatisfied” by Ksenija Nikolova

BOOK REVIEW NO:110

SYNOPSIS/BOOK BLURB

Dissatisfied

Who is to be blamed for a woman’s unhappiness?

Margot’s unhappiness is contrary to what you might expect, considering that she lives in Paris and is married to a handsome, successful man she loves. However, as time passes, she feels more certain about her emptiness and realizes how little time her husband Arthur has for her. Finally, she decides to leave him, but then something changes. Not only does Margot not know her husband as well as she thought she did, but she also comes to see that she didn’t even know herself that deeply.

Margot’s life starts changing when she discovers countless new things about her marriage, which also reawakens old traumas.

But have these signs always been there?

Has Margot’s journey been waiting for her long before she became aware of it, and can her marriage be saved?
Margot is surprised to discover Arthur knew her much better than she ever thought possible.

REVIEW ~ NIKI PRESTON ~ 4 STARS

Diary style is a totally new concept in a book to me and actually I found it an interesting way to really get inside the head and heart of Margot. Her life is broken, although to outsiders she has the perfect life. We all know that is impossible though don’t we? Nothing is as perfect as it seems and nobody knows what goes on behind closed doors. Dissatisfied is very thought provoking and without a doubt it makes you look to yourself and the decisions we sometimes make and why.

Writing letters to her Husband, Margot honestly gets everything off her chest and she slowly comes to the realisation that he is not to blame wholly for her unhappiness, her sense of emptiness.

Dissatisfied is written with a honesty that has a sombre effect on our own lives. There’s a certain level of passion in the writing that draws you into the life and feelings of Margot superbly well. I have enjoyed getting to the bottom of Margot’s unhappiness and feel that the author fully understood her journey and keeps you not only fascinated but willing her to find some level of piece. This is an emotional read and absolutely one of the most thought provoking I have read in a while. Definitely worth a read.

She says people inspire her, and she thinks of art as an ice breaker that pushes boundaries and changes the way they see things.

The world has become very judgmental and ignorant, and Ksenija believes that writing stories that smash discrimination and stereotypes can make us better and happier.

Ksenija is currently working on a new novel she is very excited about. She is writing it in English, and she is enjoying every step of the process.

REVIEW ~ NIKI PRESTON ~ 5 STARS

A well deserved 5 stars for The Serial Killer’s Girl. Is it slow paced? yes, does this add to the tension? oh yes! Not all psychological thriller need to rush along, hurtling towards the end, then finish. Oh no The Serial Killer’s Girl builds the tension slowly as the whole story unfolds and you can’t help but feel you are right in the story with Lexi. What a brilliant character she is. Her world is about to be turned on it’s head yet again only now she has her own child to protect. How can she do this? Her only hope is to return to her childhood home of Lindisfarne, where she feels safe and cut off from her past.

Riveting is the word that sums this story right up. I really could not stop reading, I was still reading in to the wee small hours, my eyes stinging but I just had to l know how this story ended. An enthralling read that is written superbly well. The Characters are strong and the creepy stalkerish behaviour of the “Killer” is really unnerving and the danger he brings is palpable.

I relished every page in The Serial Killer’s Girl. I would highly recommend this to all who love a slow burn, tension building plot line that will leave you exhausted and somewhat shocked then this is the one for you. Perfectly spine-chilling.
